2 week update

Yesterday morning J had her first doctor's appointment. I can't believe she's 2 weeks old already. Just wanted to give a quick update on her progress.

Weight: 7.1 pounds

Length: 18.5 inches

Head circumference: 13 inches

So since she dropped to 6.4 when we left the hospital she has gained 3 ounces shy of a full pound. The doctor was really impressed with her growth. Even though her length and head size haven't changed she said that she was doing beautifully. She's in the 50% percentile for both weight and head so that means she's right where she should be on those and she's in the 25% per length which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone since I'm such a shorty. Looks like she might be also.

Her doctor also said that the coloring of her eyes are blue enough that the will most likely stay that way. So it'll be interesting to see if she'll match her daddy and brother or if she will be a brown eyed girl like her momma.  :)

10 days later

I can't believe that it's been 10 days since Jocelyn decided to grace us with her presence. Life around here seems to be getting back to normal. Or as normal as they can be with a newborn in the house. The first 2 nights home were a little wonky in that she was waking up at 1 or 2 and staying up for 4+ hours. On the 3rd day Jeff decided that if we were going to get any sleep we'd need to make sure she woke up more during the day. So it was his mission that day to wake her up and keep her entertained enough to not fall back asleep. Let me just say, there's a reason they say never wake a sleeping baby. Boy, was she not happy with us that first day. But she did sleep way better that third night and every since. It's amazing to me how easily she's falling into a routine. She is sleeping 2-3 hours a night and is only waking up to eat then she falls back asleep. YAY!!!!!

Adam seems to be adjusting pretty well considering he now has to share mommy and daddy with someone else. He has had a bit of a cold this past week which has lead to some whining and temper tantrums but over all is acting like a big brother should. He likes to help me add the formula powder to her bottles and loves to shake them to mix it together. Every time she needs a diaper change he runs in front of me into her room and grabs the diapers and wipes. He has picked out an outfit for her to wear a time or two and is becoming a big help around the house.

It amazes me how similar yet different the two of them are.

She does the same little expressions that Adam used to do, she'll suck on her bottom lip or stick out her tongue just like he did. She hates having her hands and feet covered. I could never keep socks on Adam either. I'm sure a lot of babies do this also but they both preferred to have their hands above/next to their heads when sleeping. Yet you can see the differences also. She is definitely more high maintenance, she wants to be held a lot and loves getting attention. Adam was more laid back, didn't really care if some one was holding him or if he was in the bassinet or bouncer. When I got pregnant again I told myself not to compare the two. I don't really want to compare her to Adam since she is in fact a completely different human I'm finding it hard not to do just that. I know there will be differences as well as similarities. and I am looking forward to seeing both :)
