Life's unexpected joys

Well, it's been three weeks now and it feels like we've got the hang of things. I often have to stop and remind myself that she's still so young. She doesn't act like the typical newborn in so many ways. She is now eating 3-4 ounces at every feeding which are usually 3-4 hours apart. She has been trying to hold her head up since day one, Jeff often has to remind me that I still need to support her neck. I'm so used to her trying on her own that I sometimes forget that she's still strengthening those muscles and needs a little help now and then.
We don't have another doctor's appointment until she's 2 months old but I wanted to know how much she is gaining. So the other day I weighed myself on our digital scale then weighed her. It looks like she may have gained another 5 ounces since last week putting her at 7 pounds 6 ounces. My math/scale could be off so that's her unofficial weight to date.
Adam is still doing great with her. He loves to help out when ever he can. He is such a great big brother, I grow prouder and prouder of him every day. He baffles me with his smarts and quick thinking. He will remember something from weeks ago and be able to tell you specific details about that event. He has taken to singing along with just about anything. I have been singing to him before he goes to bed since birth and in the last few weeks he has started to sing with me. There is nothing cuter than your little boy singing "Twinkle Twinkle" or "Jack and Jill" with you at night.
So far we are just hanging close to home but I look forward to being able to go to play and back to the gym. I want to start training for a 5k run in October and ultimately I'd love to be able to run a marathon by my 30th birthday (next november). We'll see how that progresses but I think that would be a great way to get rid of the last 15 pounds of baby weight plus some.

I'll leave you with some more pictures of my two amazingly adorable children :)

2 week update

Yesterday morning J had her first doctor's appointment. I can't believe she's 2 weeks old already. Just wanted to give a quick update on her progress.

Weight: 7.1 pounds

Length: 18.5 inches

Head circumference: 13 inches

So since she dropped to 6.4 when we left the hospital she has gained 3 ounces shy of a full pound. The doctor was really impressed with her growth. Even though her length and head size haven't changed she said that she was doing beautifully. She's in the 50% percentile for both weight and head so that means she's right where she should be on those and she's in the 25% per length which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone since I'm such a shorty. Looks like she might be also.

Her doctor also said that the coloring of her eyes are blue enough that the will most likely stay that way. So it'll be interesting to see if she'll match her daddy and brother or if she will be a brown eyed girl like her momma.  :)
